FAQ For Teen's

Q) How do I become part of the SBC?
A) If you are Red Cross certified, email the following information to spangbabysittersclub@googlemail.com:
*Name
*Age
*Phone number
*Regularly checked email addy (this must be checked daily)
*Village or base you live
*Availability
*Are you ok with babies?
*Can you do overnights? (This means, if the parent's go out til 2am can you just stay the night and they will bring you home in the morning. Of course, this is at your discression.)

Q) How do I get a babysitting job?
A) Once a parent contact's the SBC we, the coordinator's, contact babysitters from the database for the job.
If you have accepted the job, we will give YOU the client's information. You must contact them within 24 hours and make the remaining arrangements.
This allows your information to be kept private.

Q) How much do I get paid?
A) This is the most important question when it comes to the SBC!
We feel that in today's economy everyone needs to be treated fairly.....parent's looking for sitter's and the sitter's themselves.
Therefore, the rates will breakdown like this:
1-2 children = $5 per hour each additional child = $2.50 per hour per child.
For example, you babysit 1 to 2 children for 4 hours, you will be paid $20
If you are babysitting 3 children for the same amount of time, you will be paid $30 and so on.
As parent's ourselves, we feel that the sitter's that are charging $5 per hour per child is a bit excessive. You will be hired more often sticking to our reasonable rates.
If you can not adhere to the rates we offer our clients, we can not add you to the database.

Q) Can I get paid more?
A) Technically, yes! This depends on the parent and the job.
For example, the parent's may buy pizza or slip extra money into your pay. This is a nice gesture, but not all parent's are able to do so.
Please do not ask for more than the stipulated rate.

Q) What about complaint's?
A) All complaint's will go through the SBC.

Q) If I am called and can not take the job will I be removed from the database?
A) Absolutely not! If you have plans or simply do not want to babysit that night, just let us know. We will call someone else.

Q) How much notice will I receive about a job?
A) As this program is less than a year old, this is a working issue. In most cases you will have between 2-5 days notice. However, please know that we do get last minute requests that could be only 24 hours. It is your choice to take the job, but once your receive a "Sitter Request" email, you must let us know if you CAN or CAN NOT take the job. If we have not heard from you within 24 hours of sending you the request we will move on add one strike to your name.
After three strikes for no response, you will be removed from the database.

Q) Isn't this a girl's club?
A) No way! There are tons of potential clients out there that would love to have a boy sitter. Creator/Coordinator Chrissy is just one!

Q) Do we have to pay to use the SBC?
A) Nope. We are strictly non-profit.
We created this program because we could not find sitter's ourselves. We did this to assist other parent's find the sitter's they need and advertise for hard-working teenager's like you.

Q) Do I have to have my CPR certification?
A) We require that you take the Red Cross babysitter's course ($35-call 0656561-9440). However, that does not include CPR.
If you would like to further your sitter experience, we recommend signing up for the Red Cross Advanced Babysitter course as well...it is only $5 more! The benefit to taking this extra class is that you are placed at the TOP of the roster for jobs.

Q) If, after accepting a job, I am unable to fulfill my obligation, whose responsibility is it to contact the parent's?
A) After a job is assigned and accepted, it is out of the SBC's hands unless there is a complaint.
We feel that this should be treated as a real job. And as such, you would need to contact the parent directly. No call, no shows are grounds for dismissal from the SBC.

If you have anymore questions, let us know. We will add them to the FAQ. Also, if you have friends that babysit as well, please have them contact us to be added to the database and start making some money!!
You will notice the advertisments starting to be posted. When you see them be proud that we are advertising for you!
